Application & Auditions

When do auditions take place? Auditions are held in spring each year. Contact us for the exact dates.

Do I need formal qualifications? No. We welcome applications from young musicians at all stages of learning. Passion, enthusiasm and dedication are what we look for.

What does the audition involve? You will be asked to perform on your instrument(s) and may have a short discussion about your musical interests and goals.

Tuition & Fees

How much does it cost? As one of 12 Centres for Advanced Training, we receive DfE funding. Means-tested bursaries are available. Contact us for current fee information.

Are bursaries available? Yes. The Music & Dance Scheme offers means-tested bursaries. We also have support from trusts and donors for additional bursary places.

Programme & Timetable

When do classes run? SMA runs on 30 Saturdays during term time. Each student has a tailored timetable.

What age range do you accept? We work with musicians aged 4–19.
